Ribociclib is a CDK4/6 inhibitor, which means it prevents the proteins CDK4 or CDK6 from helping breast cancer cells grow. It’s a medication for those with early-stage or metastatic hormone receptor–positive, HER2-negative cancers. It is given with hormone therapy in either pill or injectable form.
