Young Investigator x

BCRF has long recognized the importance of supporting promising young investigators. Without funding, early-career scientists cannot gain the independence they need to make significant contributions to breast cancer research and impact patients’ lives.

In 1973, more than half of those who earned a PhD in medical research became an academic investigator within six years. Today, that number is only 15 percent. One study shows there are at least six PhDs competing for every tenure-track, academic position available.
