Hormone receptor–negative breast cancer

In hormone receptor–negative breast cancer, the cancer cells do not have receptors for estrogen or progesterone. This means that these hormones do not directly alter or promote breast cancer’s growth. This type of cancer is most likely to occur in premenopausal women.
