How We Spend Our Money
We’ve always believed the most efficient way to finding a cure for breast cancer is by directing as much grants funding as possible to the best and most innovative research. The BCRF Scientific Advisory Board identifies and evaluates cutting-edge research to ensure our dollars will have the most impact possible.
Annual grants awarded by BCRF allow our scientists to pursue groundbreaking research leading to new treatments, new methods of prevention and new insights into breast cancer. We support investigations with the potential for rapid clinical application and understand the importance of supporting projects in all stages of development, including much-needed seed money. This enables our researchers to generate the data necessary to compete successfully for federal funding and to leverage and secure additional funds from other foundations and government agencies.
We’re committed to the highest degree of fundraising efficiency as the highest-rated breast cancer charity in the U.S. and as the largest private funder of breast cancer research in the world. Each year, the maximum amount of dollars is directed to research rather than a future endowment.
By donating to BCRF, contributors know that their support will go to breast cancer research and awareness programs. No gift is too small. We’re honored to be the recipient of gifts from all donors.
We are proud to be recognized by several independent organizations that monitor charities for our unique approach to fundraising and awarding money to breast cancer research and awareness programs including:
CharityWatch.org (formerly American Institute of Philantrophy)
We hold an A rating from CharityWatch. We are the only breast cancer organization and cancer organization to receive its coveted A ranking.
BCRF has earned GuideStar USA’s Gold Seal of Transparency. By providing information about BCRF's goals, strategies, capabilities, achievements and progress indicators, we were recognized amongst the top 0.5% of Guidestar’s database, which includes more than 1.8 million IRS-recognized organizations.
