5 Ways the Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin is Unlike Any Other

  1. You can design it: to enter the public competition, just submit three examples of your art.
  2. If your designs are selected, your art would become a part of U.S. history. Your initials would even be engraved on the coin.
  3. For the first time ever, the U.S. Mint is creating a custom pink-gold formula just for this coin.
  4. The winner will receive a $10,000 prize for their design.
  5. If we sold out all of the coins authorized to be produced, BCRF would stand to raise more than $8.5 million for breast cancer research—that’s 32 research grants.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin Design Competition is open through October 17. The coins will be available for sale by the U.S. Mint in 2018.

As with all commemorative coin programs, which by law must be self-sustaining, the U.S. Mint will operate the 2018 BCA Commemorative Coin Program, including the design competition, at no cost to taxpayers.

BCRF is the designated recipient organization, which is authorized to receive the surcharges ($35 per pink gold coin, $10 per silver coin, and $5 per clad coin) for breast cancer research.
