By BCRF | January 3, 2017

An interview with Joan Lunden, a recap of BCRF signature events, science news and more

We are kicking off the new year with the latest issue of the Pink Press, available now.

Here's a sneak peak at BCRF President Myra Biblowit's letter, as published in the Fall/Winter 2017 issue.

Dear Friends,

After 15 years leading BCRF, I can unequivocally attest that this year has been one of the most incredible. We’ve produced significant advances while laying out a map to achieve a future without breast cancer.

Our investigators have made life-changing breakthroughs in research, including the development of a new genetic test to improve personalized medicine for patients diagnosed with breast cancer. Earlier this year, BCRF launched the Drug Research Collaborative—an unprecedented new funding model seeking to bridge the gap between academic investigators and new therapies in development. We’re also facilitating collaboration between mathematicians and computer scientists with biologists and oncologists, enabling their collective expertise to make sense of vast amounts of molecular data and put together the pieces of the puzzle that are cancer.

BCRF has also set forth a bold new vision: we’ve committed to significantly increasing our investment in research over the next five years. BCRF’s role as the largest private funder of breast cancer research has never been more important. To fuel advances, we’ll continue seeking out and supporting the most innovative minds in science.

We know that research is the only way we’ll end breast cancer. But that research relies on us all. The strides we’ve made and our vision for the future would not be possible without the support of our donors, corporate partners, volunteers and independent fundraisers.

Your contributions enable the work we fund all year—and as you read this issue of the Pink Press, you’ll see how we’re advancing our understanding because of the creative and remarkable ways our supporters rally around research. We’re energized. We’re beyond grateful to have earned your trust. And we can’t wait to show it by fueling more advances than ever before. We sincerely thank you for your invaluable partnership and confidence in BCRF.

With my warmest regards and my deepest gratitude,

Myra J. Biblowit, President and CEO
