Selective estrogen receptor modulators bind to estrogen receptors in the cancer cells and block estrogen from helping cancer cells to grow. Tamoxifen (Soltamox®), raloxifene (Evista®), and toremifene (Fareston®) are SERMs used to treat estrogen receptor–positive breast cancer. All three hormonal therapy drugs are administered orally.
