Exemestane (Aromasin) is an aromatase inhibitor drug taken orally that lowers the amount of estrogen produced in the body. Exemestane is used to treat certain patients who have either early-stage estrogen receptor (ER)–positive breast cancer or metastatic breast cancer. Postmenopausal women whose cancer has already been treated with tamoxifen may also be treated with exemestane.
