Contrast-enhanced mammography is mammogram that involves the injection of iodine-containing dye in the arm through an IV. This dye makes it easier to see unusual activity in blood vessels, which may be a sign of developing cancer. CEMs are primarily used to follow up on abnormal findings in a regular mammogram and to help with the diagnosis and staging of breast cancer.
