A liquid biopsy is a sample taken from a person’s non-solid tissue, usually blood. A liquid biopsy can be used to identify the presence of cancer cells shed from a tumor (or pieces of DNA from tumor cells) that are circulating in the blood. A liquid biopsy test has the potential to improve early detection of cancer, track the disease’s progression, and help guide treatment.
