Campaign showcases faces of breast cancer and essential role of research
In a new public service announcement, Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) spotlights the real people behind the statistic that one in 8 women will face breast cancer, as well as the critical role that research plays in saving lives. The PSA urges viewers to join BCRF in taking action to help move research forward so that nobody else faces the disease.
“Because of research, we’ve seen a 44 percent drop in breast cancer deaths since 1989,” says BCRF Chief Scientific Officer Dorraya El-Ashry. “But there is still critical work ahead. The incidence is rising among younger women, there is no cure for metastatic breast cancer, life-threatening disparities persist, and we still lose people to the disease every day. And yet, while the challenges are real, so is the hope. That hope lies in research, because only research will end breast cancer.”
The PSA showcases stories behind the statistic through meaningful visuals and storytelling and underscores BCRF’s role as the largest private funder of breast cancer research.
The campaign’s message is clear: Research matters. With every breakthrough, discovery, and dollar raised, BCRF is rewriting what’s possible for those facing breast cancer. Research has already changed the narrative for over 4 million women around the world, allowing them to live longer, fuller lives after a breast cancer diagnosis. But we need the next breakthrough to ensure more stories have longer, healthier, and happier endings.
The new PSA amplifies BCRF’s mission to prevent and cure breast cancer by fueling the world’s most promising research.
