The inspiration of a BCRF metastasis researcher, recaps from signature events, ASCO 2019 science updates and more

The latest issue of BCRF’s newsletter, Pink Press Fall 2019, is now available.

Here’s a sneak peak at BCRF President Myra Biblowit’s letter, as published in the Fall 2019 issue.

Dear Friends,

Today, people diagnosed with breast cancer are living longer, healthier lives—more than ever before. While we’ve gained tremendous ground against the disease, those with metastatic breast cancer urgently need more options—their lives depend on each and every breakthrough.

This year, your support is funding $66 million in grants to nearly 275 researchers at medical and academic institutions in 14 countries. This gives the world’s most creative minds in breast cancer research the ability to pursue their most promising ideas. Your support fuels transformative advances in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and metastasis.

With the leadership of our dynamic Scientific Advisory Board, BCRF has launched the first-of-its-kind Precision Prevention Initiative—applying the principles of precision medicine to prevention research. We are leading the charge in this promising field through a large-scale coordinated effort to stop cancer before it starts.

Simultaneously, we continue our relentless pursuit against the most urgent issue in breast cancer today: metastatic disease. This summer, we convened scientists from around the world to share their progress on the largest global effort dedicated exclusively to metastatic breast cancer research through the Evelyn H. Lauder Founder’s Fund. They shared bold, novel ideas that have the potential to end breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.

We are energized by the progress we’ve led—only made possible thanks to each and every donor, partner and volunteer. I hope you are heartened and inspired by many of their stories featured here.

By supporting the highest-rated breast cancer organization in the country, you are powering an engine of progress and possibility. We are deeply grateful for your support.

With my warmest regards,

Myra J. Biblowit
